EST is currently accepting applications from native English-level speakers with teaching experience in Japanese schools for a position at a private junior high school in the Tokyo metropolitan area (From September to December, 2025)

We are currently accepting applications from native English-level speakers for a teaching position in a private junior and senior high school in Tokyo, starting from September 1st.

The basic roles include:
- Teaching a range of English classes at assigned school.
- Teaching essay writing skills and grading essays and providing feedback to students.
- Team teaching, but mostly you will be a lead teacher.
- Creating innovative and engaging lesson plans.
- Creating and grading examinations and other assessments.
- Active involvement in wider school life through English clubs and speech contests, etc.
- Attending events to promote and support the assigned school such as open campuses and school festivals. (These events may occasionally fall on weekends/national holidays)
- Keeping up-to-date with and submitting paperwork.
- Other work-related duties.

As well as meeting the following requirements:
- Native English-level proficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Experience teaching English at junior and senior high schools in Japan.
- Currently residing in the Tokyo area and in possession of a valid visa that allows you to work in Japan.

Our ideal candidate will also:
- Be creative and flexible.
- Be an excellent team player.
- Be willing to try new ideas.
- Have an excellent knowledge of English spelling and grammar and strong proofreading skills. Knowledge of EIKEN and IELTS is a plus.
- Have a good understanding of the Japanese school system.
- Have a teaching certificate (TEFL, TESOL, CELTA etc.).
- Be reliable and punctual.

=Working Conditions=
Contract term: September 1st to December 31st 2025.

Schedule:
- Fixed working hours of 8:40 am to 3:05 pm from Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work for school events. However, when after-school lessons are scheduled, the working hours of Mondays will be 8:40 am to 4:25 pm. There are 8 after-school lessons scheduled during the contract period.

Class Number:
-16 lessons/week
- 8 after-school lessons/term
-You will be also asked to participate meeting(s) with colleagues.

Monthly salary:
- JPY 300,000〜310,000. Transportation to assigned school will be reimbursed.
- Social Insurance Package will not be provided.
- The initial salary will be decided based on experience, skills and workload.
- The same amount will be paid no matter how many lessons are canceled due to school events.
※You will be asked to join teacher development training before your lessons begin.
