PART-TIME KINDERGARTEN TEACHER VACANCY IN THE TAMAGAWA ACADEMY PRIMARY PROGRAM

About Tamagawa Academy

Tamagawa Academy has been authorized as an International Baccalaureate World School since 2009 and currently offers the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programmes bilingually in English and Japanese. In 2016 the kindergarten and primary school started a bilingual program in its elementary school and kindergarten to prepare children for the demands of studying the IB in English.

Required
- A valid teaching certificate / qualification for kindergarten (3-5 years old)
- Experience teaching kindergarten
- Native level English speaker or native-like English proficiency

Desirable
- Qualifications / experience in teaching English as a foreign language
- Experience living and working in Japan
- Ability to speak Japanese

Description of Duties
Main Responsibilities:
- Planning, teaching and developing resources for lessons
- Curriculum development
- Assessment
- Developing the classroom environment to support learning
- Supporting the daily needs of pupils as necessary
- Maintaining a safe, clean, tidy and healthy classroom environment that supports the physical, social and emotional well-being of all students
- Implementing strategies for language support within the classroom
- Preparing formal reports at designated times during the academic school year
- Participating in and supporting school trips
- Understanding and modeling the school rules and ethos and providing guidance to students on these when necessary
- Maintaining open communication with administrators, colleagues and staff
- Attending daily morning briefing and afternoon closing meeting
- Participating in professional development activities in line with school requirements

Other Responsibilities
- Classroom coverage for absent teachers
- Supporting traffic safety activities
- Participation in promotional and recruitment events
- Other duties as requested by the Director for Kindergarten

General Employment Information
Number of openings: one
Working Hours: 8 hours a day (with a break), three days a week (which days are negotiable)
Compensation: Salary (in accordance with the school's rules and regulations), transportation expenses
Social insurance: Health insurance, pension, workers' accident compensation insurance, unemployment insurance
Contract period: April 2025 – March 2026
After the initial contract, contracts may be renewed annually by mutual agreement (for a total employment period of five years).
Holidays: Sundays, Saturdays, national holidays, August 1 to August 31 and winter vacation
Vacations: Annual paid vacations, congratulation or condolence leave, etc.
