Part-time English Instructor

【Salary and Benefits】
7,500 yen per 90-minute online lesson
An additional 2,000 yen per hour for administrative duties (see details below)

【Working Location and Hours】
• Remote Work
Stable Wi-Fi, a strong Internet connection, and a quiet teaching environment are required.

Employment Type: Part-Time
• Weekdays: Classes are scheduled in the evening after students return from school, typically between 6:30 PM and 10:00 PM.
• Weekends: Classes are scheduled from daytime to evening, based on the number of students and the availability of students and teachers.
Note about the Schedule
• Lesson days and times are finalized the month before classes begin, based on the availability of students and teachers.
• Once the work schedule is confirmed, the lesson times become fixed shifts, and teachers are expected to work the same fixed lesson shift each week as a general rule.

【Job Details】
Teach 90-minute online English courses via Zoom.
Class size: 3–6 students per class
Lesson plans, materials, and teacher guides are provided.
•Project-based lessons for elementary school students (science, art, geography, and other subjects)
•Pre-AP and AP courses for middle and high school students (Courses include Precalculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, and Pre-AP English and AP English.)

【Administrative Duties】
•Complete onboarding and training (approx. 1–2 months before teaching your first class)
The training period can be adjusted based on availability and schedule.
•Review and revise original math problems for AP math classes
•Create student evaluations, check homework, proofread reports and provide feedback to students
•Prepare for lessons and submit post-lesson reports
•Attend weekly training sessions and meetings (1–2 hours/week)
•Other work-related duties as assigned.

•Proficient PC skills for online teaching and remote work.
•Strong work ethic with ability to meet strict deadlines.
•Punctual and reliable, ensuring lessons always start and end on time.
•Able to support, motivate, and guide students struggling with English proficiency.
•Passionate about learning, improving, and making lessons engaging for students.
•Honest, positive team player, Able to work independently while collaborating with other teachers.
•Fluent Japanese communication skills

【Required Qualifications】
•Native English-level proficiency with previous teaching experience
•Have a Bachelor's degree or higher where English was the language of instruction
Note: University students (including international students) are welcome to apply and will be considered depending on their visa status, ability to work part-time, and relevant experience in teaching or tutoring at the university level
•Experience taking or teaching/tutoring AP Calculus or AP English
Note: If you lack AP experience, university-level calculus teaching or tutoring experience may be considered.

【Preferred Qualifications】
•B.A./B.Ed. in English
•B.A./B.S. in Math (Familiarity with graphing calculators)
•Experience taking or teaching/tutoring AP Calculus or AP English
Note: If you lack AP experience, university-level calculus teaching or tutoring experience may be considered.
•Knowledge of AP Calculus curriculum, exam formats, and scoring
•TESOL, TEFL, or CELTA certification

【Days Off】
•Public Holidays (If classes are scheduled on a public holiday according to the lesson calendar, teachers are expected to work.)
•Year-End and New Year Holidays
•Paid Leave (granted in accordance to labor laws and legal regulations)
•Special Leave for family events (e.g. weddings, funerals)

Teachers can communicate and cooperate with colleagues through training sessions and meetings, ensuring a supportive remote work environment.

•For teachers residing overseas: A Japanese bank account is required for salary payments.
