Minimum Requirements
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Must be living in Japan.
• Must be on an unrestricted work visa or have an instructor visa. If none of the aforementioned apply, then the successful candidate must be willing to change their status to instructor (paperwork will be provided by Assumption Kokusai).
• Experience teaching in private or public junior / senior high school in Japan. Solo teaching is preferred but being the lead teacher in a team-teaching scenario is acceptable.
• Native English-level proficiency.
• Basic / day-to-day understanding of Japanese is preferred.

About the position:
Assumption Kokusai runs a regular Japanese course as well as an English immersion course. The successful candidate will be required to teach English conversation style classes on the regular Japanese course to our junior and senior high school students. There may also be the opportunity to teach some classes on the English immersion course, these being English Expression, Communication English, and Academic Research, however this position will primarily focus on Japanese course English conversation classes.
You will be required to:
• Prepare and deliver creative classes based around the Japanese English curriculum.
• Be a sub-homeroom teacher for one of the homeroom classes on the English immersion course.
• Be flexible and work alongside colleagues, the majority of whom are Japanese.
• Occasionally take part in promotional events like Saturday open school, to help promote the school.
• Test making and grading may be required for some classes, but we will try to ensure that the successful candidate does not need to take responsibility testing and grading.
About Assumption Kokusai
Assumption Kokusai is a Catholic school situated 15 minutes’ walk from either Minoh-Hankyu station or Minoh Kayano station in the north of Osaka, and is part of a network that covers 33 countries worldwide. Originally a girl’s school, we have been co-ed since 2017 when the English immersion program was launched. The immersion course students have homeroom, mathematics, science, music and English subjects conducted in English, with the rest of their classes being in Japanese.
