【Qualifications】
1. Understanding and appreciation of the school’s Christian heritage and its mission of
“Love thy Neighbor.”
2. Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or related fields.
3. Understanding of and/or a strong interest in a concept-based inquiry learning program.
(Preferred, but not mandatory, qualifications)
1. Teaching license/certificate.
2. Prior experience in teaching junior/senior high school social studies
3. Teaching experience in an IB world school.
4. Understanding of Japanese culture and language.
【Duties】
1. Design and implement engaging and level-appropriate social studies and English lessons fostering curiosity and interest in the students.
2. Work collaboratively with other teachers in planning and delivering concept-based inquiry lessons.
3. Lead or assist in leading a homeroom class and other school responsibilities.
4. Participate in in-house teacher development workshops as well as IB workshops.
5. Attend all teachers’ meetings.
【Salary and Benefits】
-Salary will be in accordance with experience and following the standard school salary regulations as outlined by the National Public Service Salary Table (approx. 210,000 to 440,000 yen per month before taxes)
-Twice-per-year bonus (currently approx. 4.4 times base salary in total)
-Benefits include health insurance, travel support (limited), retirement contributions (national & private), housing and transportation allowances
- One year renewable contract with the possibility of tenure for qualified teachers.
