High School in Tokyo requires a substitute part-time teacher. 5 days/week, 20 teaching hours plus class admin, grading, and preparation. Salary from ¥300,000 per month depending on experience, plus commuting expenses. Contract runs from October 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025.
Sakuragaoka Jr. & Sr. High School, based in Kita-ku, Tokyo, is currently looking for a Substitute English Teacher due to one of our staff going on parental leave. The successful candidate will be teaching 20 classes over the course of 5 days (Monday - Friday) to students ranging from Junior 2 up to Senior 3. Classes are mostly Solo with some Team Taught. The day-to-day schedule varies as follows:
- Mon. 8:40-15:20 (4 classes)
- Tue. 8:40-14:30 (5 classes)
- Wed. 8:40-15:20 (5 classes)
- Thu. 8:40-12:50 (2 classes)
- Fri. 8:40-12:50 (4 classes)
As well as teaching the classes, the successful applicant will also be required to do the necessary administrative work, including class preparation, marking tests, grading input & upload to the school system, and proctoring exams.
Applicants are required to have the following as a minimum:
- BA/BS degree from a recognized institution
- an "Instructor" visa (or willing to change to an "Instructor" visa)
- relevant work experience in a junior/senior high school in Japan
- some Japanese ability (approximately level 3 of JLPT)
- working knowledge of Word and Excel
Additional relevant qualifications are welcome.
The salary for this position starts from ¥300,000 per month (more depending on experience), paid every month of the contract. Commuting expenses for the previous month are also fully reimbursed along with the following month's salary. Holidays include all weekends and national holidays, and winter and spring school holidays.
