Overview of the recruitment process for new Speaking Examiners
In order to become a Cambridge English SE, an applicant must successfully complete the following stages of recruitment process:
1. Application form approval
Application forms are assessed against the Minimum Professional Requirements. Those who do not meet the minimum requirements cannot be accepted.
2. Interview by telephone
The Centre Exam Manager and the Team Leader (TL) interview the applicants and, where needed, the TL conducts a language proficiency check.
3. Induction
The applicants work through the self-access online induction materials, which cover the responsibilities of being a Speaking Examiner and the format and levels of the tests.
4. Training
Training is conducted by the TL and covers how to rate and deliver the Speaking test. The TL assesses the applicants during session to ensure they meet the requirements for an SE.
5. Certification
The applicants must complete certification for each exam level they will examine and their performance must be certified by the TL to become an SE.
6. Approval by Cambridge English
Cambridge English may reject any nomination which does not clearly meet the requirements, and their decision is final.

Contract Term and Hours Positions: 1~2 part-time positions
Days: 2~3 days per week (Ideally Mon/Tue/Fri, but Mon/Fri also possible).

Duties Teach elementary Year 4 and/or Year 5 students English communication skills, phonics-based literacy, and global awareness. The class size is 18 in most cases, and part-time teachers will be in charge of their own classes of 18, teaching alone.

In addition to teaching lessons, other duties include preparing for lessons, meeting with teachers of the same grade, checking homework, and grading. Grading includes the writing of term-end comments in Japanese for report cards. Please note that teachers of the same grade will use the same materials and lesson plans and collaborate to help students reach the goals for each term.
Qualifications & Requirements • Native or near-native level advanced speaker of English.

• MA in TESOL or related field, or a government-issued teaching license for primary or junior/senior high school. Degrees or licenses to be conferred by the start date are acceptable. Other equivalent qualifications may be considered as well.

• English teaching experience at the elementary or secondary school level in Japan is a strong advantage.

• Conversational and written Japanese ability sufficient for the duties described above.

1. Job Description / Responsibilities
(1) Each SFELI will teach an average of ten credit-hours (koma) per week per semester (one credit-hour is 90 minutes).
(2) SFELI will also be asked to perform various duties related to education at our institution.
(3) SFELI may be invited to teach additional classes at the Center for Language Acquisition (CLA) at Ritsumeikan University for additional remuneration. Intensive classes during summer and spring vacations may be offered. 

2. Qualifications for Employment
(1) Candidates must be capable of teaching English as a foreign language.
(2) Candidates must have at least a master's degree at the time of application, with a relevant research field in an area such as the following: TESL/TEFL/TESOL, Applied Linguistics (including CALL and other language education technologies, testing, etc.), Linguistics, Intercultural Communication, and Area Studies.
(3) Candidates must have experience teaching non-native students of English.
It may be desirable for candidates to have experience teaching CALL, CLIL, remedial classes for learners with limited English language proficiency, and/or TOEFL/TOEIC preparation courses.
(4) It would be desirable for candidates to have obtained their qualifying degree within ten years of applying for the SFELI position.
