Japanese Language Teacher, Senri & Osaka International Schools of Kwansei Gakuin, Minoh

International Baccalaureate middle school Japanese language teacher for beginning level students at the Osaka Internatio

Job details:

Contract dates: 1 April 2017 ~ 30 June 2017
The School: Osaka International School of Kwansei Gakuin is a K-12
school of 274 students founded in 1991. An IB World School
(PYP, MYP, DP) since 2004, we are managed by the non-profit
foundation, Kwansei Gakuin, an organization that includes a
24,000-student university, junior college and other K-12 schools.
What makes us different from other international schools is our
Two Schools Together ethos. We share a campus, classes in PE,
music and visual arts with the 500-student Japanese Senri
international school. With our connections to the students,
faculty and parents of Senri, it gets us out of the international
school bubble and making authentic connections to the distinct
Japanese culture.
For more information about our school, please see our website
(www.senri.ed.jp), follow us on Twitter (@oisinbrief), subscribe to
our YouTube channel (SOIS Videos), or check out our Sabers
Athletics website.
The Position: We are looking for a dynamic, positive educator who enjoys
working with young people and puts students’ learning first. The
position is shared between the Osaka International School (OIS)
and the Senri International School (SIS), two sister schools
based on the same campus. OIS requires someone to teach a
mixed class of grade 7 & 8 foreign students Japanese language
within the IB MYP curriculum framework. SIS requires someone
to support junior high school and high school Japanese returnee
and foreign students with Japanese language skills within an
Article I school curriculum framework

Qualifications & Experience: All international school teachers are language teachers because many students are learning in their second or third language.
This challenging position requires a teacher fluent in both English
and Japanese. Experience at an international school with
Japanese language learners is preferred but not required. We
are looking for someone who is flexible and can work with faculty
from both schools. The SIS Japanese language support
position’s exact hours will depend on the needs of the students
for a particular trimester, so flexibility in scheduling is essential.
Being a certified or licensed teacher is preferred, but not a
requirement.

Salary & Benefits: This is an hourly wage teaching position. The number of incharge hours will be informed prior to each term and is subject
to change based on student needs. The number of hours is
approved by the heads of schools of OIS and SIS. This is a
trimester-long contract with the possibility of renewal based on
the agreement of both parties.

Application Procedures:
You can complete the online application form (link here). You can
upload your resume to the application and share links to your
website, blog, or portfolio. We are accepting applications
immediately and will be reviewing candidates as they apply. The
position will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
