Submitting to Outside the Box/Off the Wall

Outside the Box/Off the Wall is a forum for original, imaginative, and “impossible” thinking concerning problems in the field. Submissions not only challenge the community to address a problem but propose a creative solution without concerns of being "unrealistic". The focus is on originality and creativity, not rigor.

  • Submissions can take several possible forms: a “dream” research proposal or course description, a theory proposing a new concept, or an ideal software or application (see description for more details).
  • Simple “brainstorming” is insufficient. If possible, specific issues/problems in the field should be addressed and possible outcomes described.
  • Submissions should be one to two paragraphs long (150-300 words). References are not required and should be limited in number (max. 2).
