La Salle Junior and Senior High School is seeking an energetic, full-time teacher with native English-level proficiency to start work on April 1st 2026. We are looking for a professionally-minded teacher who is passionate about education.
The position involves teaching, lesson planning, curriculum development and the assessment of all four skills with particular emphasis on spoken and written English. This is a challenging and rewarding position so the successful applicant will have exceptional professional and interpersonal skills. The curriculum and lessons are produced collaboratively with the other native speakers on the team. Thus, applicants must be enthusiastic and supportive team players.
Teachers are responsible for the school’s international English program taking students from CEFR levels A1 in junior high school to B2 in senior high school. Each teacher teaches independently in small-sized classes, using English only with special focus on presentations, discussions, debates, role playing and dramas. There are also various extra-curricular activities teachers are responsible for such as English debate, speech and essay contests, overseas summer programs, and Cambridge English Exams. Debate coaching skills would be preferable, but not required.
You will need:
- to be currently residing in Japan
- a university degree
- at least two years’ relevant classroom teaching experience
- fantastic organizational and teamwork skills
- exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- a good level of computer literacy
- some conversational ability in Japanese
Position Details
- 18 to 20 teaching hours per week
- five and a half days, Monday to Saturday (some Sunday events including club activities)
- developing and delivering an international curriculum
- motivating students by creating a positive learning environment
- forming strong relationships with students and other staff members
- undertaking administrative and extra-curricular tasks
