Our monthly publication, The Language Teacher, hosts a column, the Job Information Centre, offering JALT members application details for jobs in Japan and abroad.
To list a position on this website and in the print edition of The Language Teacher, please use the Job Info online submissions form or email the job posting to The Job Information Centre Editor. The notice should contain the following information: prefecture and city, name of institution, title of position, whether it is full- or part-time, qualifications, duties, salary and benefits, application materials, deadline, and contact information.
To list a position in the print edition of The Language Teacher, job postings must be received before the 15th of the month, two months before publication. There is no deadline for website job postings, which will be posted within a week of being received.
All job postings to the Job Information Centre website and column are free of charge.

Job Description: Kyoto University's Institute for the Promotion of Excellence in Higher Education is inviting applications for one nontenured position in English education at the level of associate professor or lecturer. The position starts 1 October 2009. The Institute has a special mission at Kyoto University in that its function is to offer advice and support for the development, implementation, and promotion of the language curriculum for general education (liberal arts education) intended for the universityfs first- and second-year undergraduates. The successful candidate is expected to be a committed educator with qualifications and enthusiasm for teaching undergraduate courses in academic writing as part of the English for General Academic Purposes (EGAP) curriculum. The successful candidate will also be expected to help further the advancement of the curriculum through materials development and to collaborate with others in the implementation of the EGAP curriculum.

Job Description: Interac Japan is now recruiting domestically and overseas for highly experienced and skilled instructors for short-term intensive language programmes in Nagano-ken and Fukushima-ken, Japan. The positions run from April to mid-June ; July to mid-September ; October to mid-December and January to mid-March.
Job Details: Applicants must be able to commit to a 3-month contract. We require experienced, native-level English speakers for this position. Previous teaching experience is a must and teaching qualifications (CELTA/TESOL) are preferred but not essential. If you have a passion for teaching, and wish to expand your horizons and teaching skills by working on an intensive language programme at these two government training facilities, then you are the candidate we are looking for. Teaching hours are approximately 30 hours per week, with a fixed, regular schedule between the hours of 8.45am and 2.50pm Monday to Saturday. The training programme is an intensive 65-day, 6 days a week course. The course is designed to provide training in order for the students to be able to do their job and interact in their host country. The students are all volunteers as part of the overseas development programme for Japan. After the training programme the volunteers will be dispatched overseas for 2 years. Teachers are responsible for creating the course curriculum based on a set syllabus, and then teaching the 210 lesson programme. Teachers also are responsible for the regular testing of the students' progress, setting mid and end of term exams, homework and self-study tasks. There are on average 6 students per class (a maximum of 8). The focus of the teaching is functional, practical, and communicative. For these positions, an attractive monthly salary (less national income taxes of approximately 7%) of approximately 330,000 yen, free furnished housing with no moving in costs (utilities not included), reimbursement of commuting expenses, subsidized health insurance, and free Japanese lessons (offered online) are on offer for successful candidates. Job Details: POSITION INFORMATION: Each position involves teaching three 90-minute classes, including one academic writing course, one day per week (Tuesday - Friday). The opportunity to teach on a second day may become available at a later time. The ELP is a 4-semester, English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program. All courses are developed in-house and are closely coordinated, which means that materials, lesson plans, and assessment tools are the same for all teachers and students.
