Experienced children's teacher sought for new Thursday afternoon classes. Planned 2.5 paid hours, ¥3,000–¥3,500/hour plus agreed transport. Preparation and training paid. Hours/start depend on enrollment. Excellent English; any nationality or first language welcome.
VIGOR English House is an established independent English school seeking an excellent teacher to help open new Thursday classes for preschool and elementary children.
Can you build warm relationships, keep young learners engaged, and run a calm, purposeful classroom? We value clear routines, active communication and visible learning. We provide established Oxford/Let's Go materials, guidance from the owner and paid feedback.
Pay: ¥3,000–¥3,500 per working hour, based on relevant experience and demonstrated teaching ability, plus reasonable actual commuting costs on an agreed route. All required preparation, training, meetings, lesson records and opening/closing time are paid. No reduced training rate. Monthly payroll closes at month-end and is paid on the following month's 15th (preceding banking day if necessary).
Initial schedule: two consecutive 50-minute classes on teaching Thursdays, within 15:00–19:00; a 2.5-hour paid shift is planned. Exact start/end times and the 44-lesson annual calendar will be agreed before employment begins. These are new classes: hours and the start date are not yet confirmed and depend on compatible enrollment and staffing. No unpaid reservation of your availability is required. Additional classes and seasonal programs may become available by separate agreement; they are not guaranteed.
Role: children's English teaching, necessary preparation, attendance and lesson records, routine parent handover, and opening/closing. No planned change to these teaching-related duties or the workplace. Ongoing part-time employment with no fixed end date; no separate probation period. Other weekdays and non-teaching Thursdays are days off under the agreed calendar. No scheduled rest break for the short initial shift; statutory breaks apply if hours are extended. No routine overtime planned; all required actual work is recorded and paid. Confirmed shifts remain paid if VIGOR cancels for low attendance.
You bring: successful experience teaching groups of young children; excellent spoken English; strong classroom management, reliability and judgment; practical Japanese for routine parent handovers and emergency communication; and willingness to learn shared systems. Applicants of any nationality or first language are welcome. Relevant permission to perform this work in Japan is required before any work begins. No visa sponsorship is offered for this initial role.
Selection: a structured interview, followed for shortlisted candidates by a paid, supervised demonstration and references with your consent. Payment and any required preparation are agreed beforehand. We support professional growth without promising promotion or additional hours.
