Shiba Kokusai Junior & Senior High School is a private Japanese secondary school in Tokyo with a growing international education programme. We are seeking a full-time Geography teacher to teach Cambridge IGCSE and AS & A Level Geography in English from the start of the appointment. As an 一条校 (Japanese-accredited school), Shiba Kokusai teaches the Japanese national curriculum alongside its Cambridge programme. This is a subject-teaching position in the Social Studies Department; it is not an English-language teaching position.
Responsibilities
• Teach Geography at junior and senior high school levels.
• Teach Cambridge IGCSE and AS & A Level Geography within the school’s international programme.
• Plan lessons, prepare teaching materials, assess student progress, and provide constructive feedback.
• Contribute to curriculum planning and the development of the school’s Geography programme.
• Collaborate with Social Studies colleagues through departmental meetings and shared planning.
• Participate in relevant school activities, as appropriate to the appointment.
Qualifications
• A degree in Geography or a closely related field is required.
• At least three years of Geography teaching experience at junior high school and/or senior high school level is required.
• Experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE and/or AS & A Level Geography is preferred.
• Experience studying Cambridge courses as a student is preferred.
• Experience as a homeroom teacher is an asset but not required.
• A recognized teaching qualification or licence is preferred.
• Ability to teach secondary-level Geography confidently in English.
• English proficiency at a native level is preferred.
• Japanese ability is not required, though basic conversational Japanese is helpful.

Work schedule
• The school operates Monday to Saturday.
• Full-time teachers normally work five days per week, except when attendance is required for special school events.
Salary and benefits
• Salary is negotiable and will be determined according to qualifications, experience, and the terms of appointment.
• One-year renewable contract.
• Visa sponsorship may be available, depending on the candidate’s eligibility.
