Cambridge English Speaking Examiner Training (B2 First&C1 Advanced) Kanto/ October 24th, 25th

Description:
A one-day Training, followed by a half-day Certification session to enable experienced and qualified teachers to become Speaking Examiners (SEs). This workshop will cover the speaking tests for two levels of Cambridge English; B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE). The training and certification are free but the travel and accommodation costs should be covered by applicants.

KEY INFORMATION
-Face-to-face only: no online option, and applicants must be based in Japan)
-This is a part-time position, and examiners are paid on a work basis.
-Only those who can commit to examining for JP026 are encouraged to apply.
-Preference will be given to local residents who can travel to examine sessions without using the Shinkansen or requiring overnight accommodation.
-Places are limited to a maximum of 16 participants. Registration will close once the capacity is reached, so early application is recommended.

WORK ELIGIBILITY / IMMIGRATION
-Applicants must hold a valid status of residence in Japan that permits them to undertake this paid examiner work.
-Please note that applicants holding a Student or Working Holiday status are not eligible for this position.
-If your current status of residence does not cover this part-time activity, you must obtain the appropriate permission or status before undertaking any paid examiner work.
-Applicants are responsible for confirming their individual eligibility and any applicable work restrictions with the Immigration Services Agency of Japan or a qualified immigration professional.

Please note that applicants must have:
-Education to first degree level or equivalent
-A recognised qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), or an equivalent qualification as part of a recognised university award course
- At least 3 years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) substantial and relevant TESOL teaching experience at the levels applied for, including recent experience within the last 2 to 3 years, with a total equivalent of at least 1800 hours.
- Applicants for Young Learners’ Exams (YLE) are required to have recent experience working with children, ideally in a professional capacity.

2. Submission of application form
We will send you an application form. Please return the form, completed in full. Handwritten applications will not be accepted.
Application forms are assessed against the Minimum Professional Requirements (MPRs).
Those who do not meet the MPRs cannot be accepted.
Referees will be contacted directly as part of the nomination process.
Only successful candidates will be contacted within one week.
3. Interview by telephone
Please select your preferred date & time for a phone interview on the application form.
You will be contacted during the period you stipulate. A Team Leader (TL) may conduct an interview or a language proficiency check if necessary.
4. Induction
Applicants work through the self-access induction materials, which cover the responsibilities of being a Speaking Examiner and the format and levels of the tests.
5. Training
Training is conducted by the TL and covers how to assess and deliver the Speaking test. The TL assesses the applicants during the session to ensure they meet the Cambridge requirements for a SE.
6. Certification
Applicants must complete certification for each exam level they will examine, and their performance must be certified by the TL to become a SE.
7. Approval by Cambridge English
Cambridge English may reject any nomination which does not clearly meet the requirement, and their decision is final.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
-SEs will be asked to consent to the use of PORTERS (https://www.porters.jp/), a cloud-based system used for communication with the exam centre regarding exam work requests.
-A personal photograph will also be taken for registration purposes.
-Speaking test marks will be submitted to the system using a smartphone. Therefore, SEs will be requested to use their own smartphones for this purpose.
-SEs will be asked to attend a recertification session every year in order to remain eligible as a Speaking Examiner. This will normally be conducted as a face-to-face meeting.
