Full-Time Faculty Position at Hakuoh University, Faculty of Education (Courses Taught in English)

Work Location: Daigyoji Campus, Oyama City, Tochigi Prefecture

Subjects to be Taught:
Courses taught in English, Junior Seminar, Senior Thesis Seminar, Japanese Culture in English, English Communication I and II, and other English language skills courses (subject to change depending on the appointee's academic rank).

Job Description:
Normally a four-day workweek. The remaining day is designated as a research day.
The University will determine the courses, teaching schedule, and class periods assigned to the appointee.
Duties include attendance at university events, Open Campus, entrance examination-related work (including preparation of examination questions), outreach lectures, and other university responsibilities that may be required outside the designated four-day workweek.
For appointees holding a tenured position, the following additional duties apply:
Participation in faculty/department meetings and university committees
Visits to partner schools for teaching practice supervision
Examination proctoring (including end-of-semester examinations, TOEFL, and other examinations)
Chaperoning overseas study programs
Attendance at parent consultation meetings
Participation in entrance examination interviews

Research Fields:
One of the following research fields, primarily focusing on Japan, or English Language Education:
Humanities and Social Sciences (including Sociology, Cultural Anthropology, Intercultural Communication, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Literature, Linguistics, etc.)
History and Geography (including History, Geography, International Relations, etc.)

Qualifications:
Native English-level proficiency with a high level of Japanese proficiency sufficient to perform university duties.
Non-Japanese applicants must possess a valid work visa that permits full-time employment.
A master's degree or higher, with at least three published academic works within the past ten years (excluding the master's thesis), including at least two publications related to English language education. Applicants are also expected to continue conducting research that integrates their area of specialization with English language education after appointment.
Teaching experience in English language skills courses.
A strong commitment to teaching and research, including supervising graduation theses and advising seminar students.
A strong commitment not only to education and research but also to collaboration with schools and to administrative responsibilities within the Faculty and the University.

6. Documents providing objective evidence of the language proficiency required in Qualification 1 (e.g., TOEFL, Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), etc.)
7. Applicants who are not Japanese nationals must submit a copy of a valid work visa permitting full-time employment

Selection Process:
Following the document screening, selected candidates will be contacted to arrange an in-person interview.
Candidates must bring the original diploma corresponding to the degree listed in their Curriculum Vitae to the interview.
