A private elementary school in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo is seeking an experienced and highly motivated EFL teacher with native English-level proficiency.
Job details:
* Direct-hire Full-time EFL instructor
* A renewable one-year contract
* Starting on September 1, 2026
* Salary range: ¥3,500,000 to ¥4,500,000 per year.
* Includes commutation allowance and social welfare benefits
Contract responsibilities
* Teaching about 17 classes a week at the elementary school
* Working hours: 8:00 - 17:20 Monday to Friday
* National holidays off, most weekends off (work on some weekends for special school events)
* Curriculum and project development, lesson planning and test writing
* Instruction and coaching for tests
Requirements:
* Native-level English speaker
* Candidates must be currently residing in Japan with a proper working visa (extension is possible)
* At least two years’ experience teaching at an elementary school in Japan.
* ESL / EFL certification such as TESOL / CELTA / DELTA
* Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in education.
* Other qualifications such as a teaching degree, teacher’s license, would be an asset.
* High level of computer literacy skills is necessary (for online learning platforms, classroom management systems, Microsoft Office)
* Conversational Japanese to handle administrative duties (N2 level of Japanese Language Proficiency Test would be an asset)
