Contract Lecturer for Foreign Languages（English）at Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto / Shiga / Osaka

1. Job Description / Responsibilities
(1) Each CLFL will teach an average of ten class periods (koma) per week per semester.
(2) CLFL will also be asked to perform various duties related to education at
our institution.

2. Qualification for Employment
(1) Candidates must be capable of teaching English as a foreign language.
(2) Candidates must have at least a master's degree at the time of application, with a relevant research field in an area such as the following: TESL/TEFL/TESOL, Applied Linguistics (including CALL and other language education technologies, testing, etc.), Linguistics, Intercultural Communication, and Area Studies.
(3) Candidates must have experience teaching non-native students of English. It may be desirable for candidates to have experience teaching CALL, CLIL, remedial classes for learners with limited English language proficiency, and/or TOEFL/TOEIC preparation courses.
＊Those who have a part-time or fixed term contract with the Ritsumeikan Trust in the academic year 2026 are unable to apply. However, those with an indefinite part-time contract are eligible.

3. Number of Openings for the CLFL Position and Term of Employment
Number of positions available: 8
Term of employment：April 1, 2027 to March 31, 2028 (1year) (No probationary period)
※Annual contract, renewable up to four times subject to approval
by the screening committee (after taking into consideration educational expertise, research achievements, employment record, and teaching performance).
※A Contract Lecturer shall not be hired after the first March 31 following the day on which he or she turns 70 years of age.

5. Place of Work
One or two of these campuses:
Ritsumeikan University’s Kinugasa Campus (KIC), Biwako-Kusatsu Campus (BKC), or Osaka Ibaraki Campus (OIC).

6. Conditions of Employment
Compensation:
(1) Monthly Salary: 361,100yen, Summer Bonus: 500,000yen, Year-end 500,000yen (Total Remuneration: 5,333,200yen)
(2) Allowance: Commuting Allowance, Overtime working allowance etc.
Insurances:
Employment insurance, Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance, and Social Insurance (medical insurance, pension)
