Status: Full-time Lecturer

Qualifications:
①Native English-level proficiency" is preferred
②Must have an MA in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, or related field; OR an MA in a relevant field AND a certificate in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, or similar qualification.
③A credential review will be conducted by the credential review committee. Applications from candidates who do not meet the prerequisites will not be considered.
The applicants must have a master’s degree and a minimum of two years’ experience teaching English at the university level. Special preference will be given to candidates with specialization in English for academic purposes, content-based methodologies, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), IELTS or TOEFL (or other recognized English proficiency test), or similar subject matter. Preference will be given to candidates with such teaching experience in Japan. Candidates must have published three or more academic papers in recognized journals.
④ Must be able to teach 8 weekly classes (1.5 hours per class), offer an office hour (1.5 hours per week), participate in bi-weekly faculty development meetings, and contribute actively to curriculum planning and creating instructional material.
⑤ If required, must be able to commute to the Hakusan, Asaka, Kawagoe and Akabanedai campuses.

Contract:
①One-year contract subject to annual renewal up to three times (for a maximum total of four years) if Toyo University acknowledges the need to do so and the lecturer's performance is highly evaluated.
②Depending on work performance, the contract may be extended annually for up to an additional four years, provided that Japanese labor laws at the time allow for such an extension.
※Previous years taught at Toyo will not count toward the contract limits unless the teaching occurred within six months of the beginning of the contract.
※If hired on September 1, the first year's contract will run from September 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027.

Salary and benefits:
①Annual Salary: JPY6,000,000 (pre-tax) JPY3,500,000 (pre-tax) for the first year hired on September 1st.
Payment shall be made on a monthly basis in the amount of JPY500,000 (pre-tax).
②Transportation for commuting to be covered separately with amount depending on location of residence.
③Annual allowance for research purposes: JPY280,000
④No retirement allowance provided.
※ Enrollment in Shigaku Kyousai (The Promotion and Mutual Aid Corporation for Private Schools of Japan) with the same privileges as members of Toyo University faculty in regard to the use of Toyo University’s welfare facilities; membership dues will be shared evenly by Toyo University.

Please submit a hard copy (original or photocopied) and include educational background, academic degrees, teaching experience (including course titles), etc.
(2)List of Teaching and Research Achievements (Use Forms 2-A, 2-B, 2-C, and 2-D)
Please submit one hard copy (original or photocopied) of each form. List achievements in the order of the date of presentation or publication (from past to present) under the respective categories: books (Form 2-A), academic papers (Form 2-B), conference presentations (Form 2-C), and other activities (Form 2-D). Please complete the forms by filling in the required information such as the title, publisher, name of the journal, date of publication, and a brief summary. Please indicate your three most important publications.
(3)Educational Essay: Please reflect on your teaching career to date and explain how you would draw upon your experiences to make meaningful contributions to this program based on Toyo University’s educational vision.
Length: 400-500 words
(4)Hard copies of the achievements
Please submit one hard copy (original or photocopied) of each of the three most important achievements indicated above. Additional materials related to educational achievements and/or courses taught can also be attached.
(5) 3 references
Names, titles, relationships to applicant, phone numbers, mailing addresses, and email addresses of 3 references whom the screening committee can contact.
(6)Academic degrees and certificates
Please attach photocopies of your undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as any certificates you have in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, or related fields.
Please note that the applicant may be asked to submit a certificate of earned credits and official transcript during the screening process.

Selection Process
(1)Preliminary screening: Screening of application materials.
※The result of the preliminary screening and future details regarding the secondary screening will be sent by e-mail to those who are short-listed after the preliminary screening.
(2)Secondary screening: Demonstration lesson (15 mins) and interview (15 mins) in English
①Date: June 6, 2026
②Place: Toyo University Hakusan Campus
Applicants who are short-listed after the preliminary screening will be requested to come to Hakusan Campus and attend the secondary screening. The secondary screening is a short demonstration lesson taught in English (15 minutes) followed by a Q & A session (15 minutes).
※Details regarding the secondary screening will be sent by e-mail to those who are short-listed after the preliminary screening.
※The result of the secondary screening will be sent by e-mail by the end of June.
