We are seeking an Associate Professor or a Lecturer for Department of English Language, British and American Cultures. The successful candidate will teach specialized courses for English communication skills and other specialized courses (Studies in Cross-Cultural Communication, etc.) in English.
One opening for an Associate Professor or a Lecturer of Faculty of Literature, Department of English Language, British and American Cultures.
Courses to be Taught: Specialized courses aimed at developing English communication skills: Listening, Speaking, Writing, Reading and other specialized courses (Studies in Cross-Cultural Communication, A Communicative Approach to English Teaching, etc.).
Teaching Load: Approximately 6 to 8 classes (periods) per week throughout the year.
Other Duties: Participation in meetings and committees, and other administrative duties related to the university and the faculty.
Expected Date of Appointment: April 1, 2027.
Annual Salary : 4 million yen ~ 8 million yen (It is determined based on educational background, age, and other factors.)
The discretionary labor system is applied, under which employees are considered to have worked 7.75 hours per day regardless of actual working hours.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Ph.D., Ed.D. or equivalent research achievements.
Field of Specialization: English Education, Applied Linguistics, TESOL/TEFL, Intercultural Communication, or other related fields.
Research Achievements: At least five research publications (including Master’s/Doctoral dissertations), with evidence of research activity within the past three years.
Teaching Experience: At least one year of experience teaching English as a foreign language at a higher education institution in Japan.
Language Proficiency: Native English-level proficiency (all nationalities are welcome) and sufficient Japanese proficiency to perform administrative and departmental duties.
If hired as a lecturer, a fixed-term appointment system will apply (five-year term, renewable). However, if promoted to associate professor during the term, the fixed-term system will no longer apply.
