IMMERSE seeks trained Japanese instructors to teach 1:1 communicative lessons to adult professionals in immersive VR and video-based environments. Task-based, speaking-focused sessions. Part-time, remote. Curriculum and training provided.
IMMERSE is a live online language-learning platform that helps adult learners build real-world communicative ability through instructor-led sessions in immersive 3D environments.
Position:
Part-time online Japanese language instructor teaching 1:1 lessons to adult professionals. Lessons take place either in the IMMERSE VR platform or via video conferencing, depending on the learner’s program.
Teaching approach:
Sessions are communicative and task-based, with a strong focus on developing speaking and listening proficiency through structured interaction. Instructors are expected to deliver high-engagement, well-paced lessons that support measurable learner progress. All curriculum and training are provided.
Learners:
Working professionals sponsored by global organizations.
Required qualifications:
• BA in Japanese language education, applied linguistics, or a related field
(or a teaching certificate plus significant experience)
• Minimum 2 years of structured Japanese language teaching experience
• Experience teaching adult learners
• Strong foundation in communicative / task-based language teaching
• Demonstrated ability to develop learners’ speaking and listening proficiency
• Native or near-native Japanese proficiency (JLPT N1 / ACTFL Advanced High equivalent)
• Minimum B2-level English proficiency
• High level of digital literacy and comfort using new platforms
This position is not suitable for instructors whose experience is limited to casual conversation tutoring or teaching children only.
Compensation:
Competitive and commensurate with experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Compensation includes teaching time, preparation, onboarding, and required meetings.
