Teach weekend classes in Iidabashi or Musashi-Kosugi from April 2026. Students aged 6-18. Between 3 and 9 hours of teaching per weekend. Must have CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL. JPY 4,484 -JPY 4,993 per teaching hour.
We are recruiting highly motivated, flexible and customer-oriented EFL teachers to teach Young Learner classes onsite at our Iidabashi or Musashi-Kosugi Teaching Centres from April 2026.
At these centres we teach students of kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school and high school ages.
You need to be qualified to at least certificate level or preferably diploma level (i.e. CELTA or DELTA or equivalent) and have 2 or more years of teaching experience, gained through teaching relevant levels and age groups. Young Learner qualifications (e.g. TYLEC, YL extension to CELTA, PGCE or equivalent) are also desirable.
In addition to teaching, post holders also need to undertake duties related to assessment and record keeping.
Please note that post holders will be paid by the teaching hour, and during semester time only.
These roles are only open to applicants who currently have permission to live and work in Japan.
Hourly-paid scale:
4,484 yen/hour for teachers with a CELTA or equivalent
4,993 yen/hour for teachers with a DELTA or equivalent
Payment for preparation for lessons and marking is included in the hourly teaching rate and will not be paid separately.
Your salary is a gross salary and is subject to local taxes and statutory deductions. The British Council will make deductions from your salary at source in respect of tax and other sums due where appropriate.
