Requirements:

• A degree in the relevant subject area from an accredited university

• Must be currently residing in Japan

• Must be on an instructor or spouse visa or have permanent residency.
If none of the aforementioned apply then the successful candidate must be willing to change their status to instructor (paperwork will be provided by Assumption Kokusai).

A salary that will be determined by your work experience (¥227,870 - ¥405,219 monthly; ¥3,400,00 - ¥6,000,000 annually)

The successful candidate will be:
• An enthusiastic teacher who can motivate, support and challenge students.
• Creative in using teaching strategies and technology to help students to learn and progress through a second language.
Able to work in a Japanese environment and alongside Japanese colleagues.

You will be required to:
Prepare and deliver creative classes based around the Japanese mathematics curriculum to junior high school and senior high school students.
Teach around 16-17 classes a week (Average annual working hours: 1,937)
Use a range of assessment strategies to provide feedback and assessment for students. This will include creating mid-term and end-of term exams.
• Be a sub-homeroom teacher to a class of immersion students. This will involve pastoral care, forming appropriate relationships, safe-guarding and occasional interactions with parents.
• Be flexible and work alongside colleagues, the majority of whom will be Japanese. You may be asked to help the school in capacities other than teaching, such as promoting the school at open school events.
• Ability in Japanese language is preferred but not a requirement. A candidate who can teach in another subject area, specifically science or programming will be given preference.

About Assumption Kokusai
Our school is situated 15 minutes’ walk from Hankyu Minoh station and 20 minutes’ walk from Minoh-Kayano station in the north of Osaka. It is a Catholic school and part of a network that covers 33 countries worldwide. Originally a girls’ school, it has been co-ed since 2017 when the immersion program was launched. Students have the option to study in the immersion program or not. Immersion junior high school students have homeroom, mathematics, science, music and English classes conducted in English, with the rest of their classes take in Japanese. Senior high school students have slightly different courses.
