Introduction |
The Language Teacher Online |
Welcome to our final issue for 1996. At the end of this very busy TLT
year we are now able to invite readers with access to the internet to visit
the new TLT World Wide Web Site. This site can be accessed
at <http://langue.hyper.chubu.ac.jp/jalt/pub/tlt>.
The site has been established and is being updated on a monthly basis by
Scott Rule who we welcome as our new TLT WWW Site Editor.
We warmly encourage all readers to bookmark this site and to take advantage
of the "click and send" facility to contact the editors and production staff by e-mail.
Scott has created a "comments" button on the index page that will
be directly linked to his e-mail address. He is particularly keen to receive
your feedback and suggestions as the site will be further developed
over time.
The TLT WWW Site has been designed both as a service to current
readers and as a vehicle to attract new readers and members of JALT internationally.
Papers and other contents are downloadable, and are indexed by year, issue and department. The provision
of access to articles in digital form allows greater distance collaboration
and thematic archiving. Visitors to the site who are not yet members of
JALT will find TLT submission guidelines, contact information for TLT staff, tables of contents as well as articles and other information
from the September 1996 issue onwards. There will also be information on how to join JALT in order to receive
the complete TLT.
We envisage that this site will help us to attract submissions from a
larger, more varied body of educators, and that it will enable us to share
our work with a more global audience. Scott is now working to establish
links between our site and other relevant web sites. These links will further
increase exposure to TLT and to JALT as a whole.
Work is still continuing in other areas of TLT and we need to
update readers on staff movements. We offer our most sincere thanks to Sanehira
Masao who retires with this issue as Japanese Language Editor. Mr. Sanehira
worked extremely hard to ensure that the coordination and organization of
Japanese language text proceeded smoothly at all times. We will miss him
and wish him well in the future. Eguchi Eiko will take over as Japanese
Language Editor from January 1997. We congratulate Ms. Eguchi and look forward
to working with her. Kinugawa Takao will begin work next month as
Japanese Language Assistant Editor. Congratulations also to Mr. Kinugawa.
On behalf of all TLT staff I wish readers a safe and happy Christmas
and New Year holiday.
