REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to teach English to kindergarten children from ages 3-5
2. Applicants must either:
a. Hold a Japanese teaching license (Kindergarten Teacher Class 2 or higher) or a kindergarten teaching qualification from another country
b. Have experience teaching English in a kindergarten in Japan or overseas
3. Ability to speak English at native or near-native level
4. To understand and agree with the school’s educational policy, and to be passionate about education, be cheerful, open-minded, and healthy in mind and body.
5. Those who do not fall under Article 9 of the School Education Law
6. For non-Japanese citizens, the candidate must either have or expect to be granted a valid residence status or activity permission by the Immigration Services Agency (ISA) which will allow the part time work at Tamagawa Academy by the start date. Application procedures with ISA must be handled by the candidate personally.

CONTRACT LENGTH
April 1st, 2026 to March 31st, 2027. Renewable annually to a maximum of 5 years. Contract renewal is to be determined based on criteria set forth in the Tamagawa Academy Part-time Staff Regulations.

WORKING HOURS
8:15 – 17:15, 8 hours a day (with a one-hour break), 1, 2 or 3 days a week

HOLIDAYS
Sundays, Saturdays, weekdays excluding the working days, national holidays, summer, winter, and spring break according to the kindergarten calendar. Employees may be asked to work on holidays due to school events and other circumstances and will be granted a substitute holiday on such occasions.

VACATIONS
Annual paid leave and congratulations or condolence leave.

MONTHLY WAGE
In accordance with the school’s part-time employment regulations (for reference: at age 31 the monthly salary for 1 day per week would be ¥80,100, 2 days ¥128,160 and 3 days ¥192,240)

TRANSPORTATION FEE
Provided within a maximum of 50,000 yen per month according to school regulations

INSURANCE
1-2 day(s)/week -- Workers' accident compensation insurance *Enrollment and payment to the National Health Insurance and National Pension Plans must be conducted by the candidate personally.
3 days/week -- Employees’ Health Insurance, Employees’ Pension Insurance and workers’ accident compensation insurance

JOB DESCRIPTION
Main Responsibilities:
- Planning, teaching and developing resources for lessons
- Assessment
- Developing the classroom environment to support learning
- Supporting the daily needs of pupils as necessary
- Maintaining a safe, clean, tidy and healthy classroom environment that supports the physical, social and emotional well-being of all students
- Implementing strategies for language support within the classroom
- Preparing formal reports at designated times during the academic school year
- Understanding and modeling the school rules and ethos and providing guidance to students on these when necessary
- Maintaining open communication with administrators, colleagues and staff
- Attending daily morning briefing and afternoon closing meeting
Other Responsibilities
- Other duties as requested by the Director for Kindergarten
