The ALLEX Foundation is recruiting 20-25 Japanese language lecturers who will teach Japanese language at U.S. universities. In exchange for teaching, lecturers will receive a stipend and a scholarship for full tuition, room, and food for two years to pursue a Master’s or second Bachelor’s degree.

Summary: The ALLEX Foundation is recruiting 20-25 Japanese language lecturers who will teach Japanese language at U.S. colleges and universities. In exchange for teaching, lecturers will receive a stipend and a scholarship for full tuition, room, and food for two years to pursue a Master’s or second Bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree before the teaching period starts. Candidates are also required to submit appropriate test scores such as the TOEFL/IELTS for those seeking a Master’s degree. Experience teaching Japanese language is not required, although those without adequate experience will be required to take the ALLEX Japanese Teacher Training Program at Cornell University the summer before the position begins.

Salary: Compensation consists of full tuition, room, and board waivers. Many partner universities will also cover international visitor insurance and provide an additional stipend.

History: Over the last 30 years, ALLEX and its predecessor organization, Exchange Japan, have arranged scholarships for over 1,200 lecturers to teach and earn Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees at U.S. institutions. Our graduates are now teaching all over the world including at Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cornell University, International Christian University, Rikkyo University, The University of Tokyo, and so on.
