British Council hourly-paid young learner teacher (Sat / Sun)

Teach elementary and/or junior high students in Iidabashi from April 2023. Classes available Sat evening, Sun morning and/or afternoon. Up to nine hours per week. JPY 4,400 per teaching hour for teachers with CELTA or equivalent and JPY 4,900 per teaching hour for teachers with DELTA or equivalent.

We are recruiting for highly motivated, flexible and customer-oriented EFL teachers to teach elementary and/ or junior high school / high school students at our Iidabashi Teaching Centre from April 2023. You need to have an undergraduate degree (any discipline), be qualified to at least certificate level or preferably diploma level (i.e. CELTA or DELTA or equivalent) and have 2 or more years of teaching experience, gained through teaching relevant levels and age groups. Young Learner qualifications (e.g. TYLEC, YL extension to CELTA, PGCE or equivalent) are desirable.

These roles are only open to applicants who currently have permission to live and work in Japan. Please note that if your current working visa is under the ‘Other’ category (e.g. Professor, Instructor, Artist) you will need to apply for permission to work under the category (Engineer / Specialist in Humanities / International Services).

Salary : JPY 4,400 per teaching hour for teachers with a CELTA and JPY 4,900 per teaching hour for teachers with a DELTA (Payment for preparation for lessons and marking is included in the hourly teaching rate above and is not paid for separately.)

Classes will be weekly on Sunday mornings and/or afternoons (9.00am to 12.00pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm).Teachers will be asked to commit for at least one 15-week term, but ideally the whole academic year until March 2024. Some junior high school and high school aged classes are also available weekly on Saturday evenings (5.30pm to 8.30pm).
