British Council Tokyo, Hourly Paid Teacher of English, Young Learners (6/19)

Teach elementary school students in Iidabashi every Sun from start Sep. 9am-12pm and /or 1.30pm-4.30pm. JPY 4,400-4,900 per teaching hour. 

 

Job details: 

The British Council is recruiting for highly motivated, flexible and customer-oriented EFL teachers to teach elementary school students at our Iidabashi Teaching Centre. Classes will be weekly on Sunday mornings and/or afternoons (9.00am to 12.00pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm). Teachers will be asked to commit for at least one 15-week term. There is up to six hours of teaching per week available.

Language requirements: High proficiency in English i.e. full mastery of English across all four skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8/9 in each of 4 sections of the academic module.

Essential qualifications:

Undergraduate Degree
Cambridge CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL.

Desirable qualifications:

Cambridge DELTA/Trinity Diploma
PGCE in Primary/Secondary or equivalent
CELTYL or TYLEC

Experience: 2 years post-certificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience.

Pay:

4,400 yen/hour for teachers with a CELTA or equivalent 
4,900 yen/hour for teachers with a DELTA or equivalent 

Please note: Payment for preparation for lessons and marking is included in the hourly teaching rate above and will not be paid separately. 

These roles are only open to applicants who currently have permission to live and work in Japan. Please note that if your current working visa is under the ‘Other’ category (e.g. Professor, Instructor, Artist) you will need to apply for a new visa or permission to work under the category (Engineer / Specialist in Humanities / International Services).
