Full-time Assistant Language Teacher, Private High School, International Studies Course (12/6)

In the international studies course, students spend their second year abroad. This position is designed to help prepare first-year students for their trip, and to keep the third-year students from getting rusty after they get back.

Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Three years of experience teaching English as a second language
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently and idiomatically
Affinity with a specific English-speaking culture and style guide

Preferred qualifications:
Degree in English, education, or language-related field
Experience teaching in the Japanese school system
Knowledge of streaming and video production software
Experience teaching ITV / distance learning / online classes
Ability to teach large groups with wide level gaps
Education and/or experience in teaching students with special needs

About the job:
The international studies course is a three-year high school program focusing on students with an interest in long-term study abroad. Our students spend their entire second year abroad at one one of our partner schools in New Zealand.
In this role, you will be responsible for not only teaching classes, but also program development and evaluations. You will be given the freedom to organize, plan, and conduct your classes however you see fit, with the same trust and expectations of all other teaching staff.
You will be heavily involved in all school events, functions, and activities. You will also be expected to participate in various duties regularly distributed among the staff, such as cleaning and crossguard duty.

Responsibilities:
Create and conduct lessons in English conversation for both the international (CEFR A2 - B2) and regular course (A1) students, a current events class, and a speaking/writing class (B1) for the honors course.

Direct the English club and provide content / organization as needed.

Administer proficiency tests (EIKEN, GTEC) and assist students with test preparation.

Additional duties as required by the administration.
