Position: Academic Coordinator for the Bridge Program
Department: Academic English Program (AEP)

Report to: Director of Academic English Program
Visa Requirement: Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) is able to sponsor a visa for this position.
Work Hours: 8:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday
Salary & benefits: Salary commensurate with experience. Eleven days paid vacation in the first year increasing to 20 days after 6 years of employment, plus 5 paid “personal and sick days” each year. Japanese social insurance and pension, commuting allowance, and tuition benefits for TUJ programs.

Overview of position:
The Bridge Program helps students with ITP TOEFL scores of 475 to 549, who are conditionally accepted into the Undergraduate Program, develop academic skills to succeed at an American university. The Academic Coordinator will operate and coordinate the Bridge Program, working closely with instructors, students, and the Director.

・Coordination of instructors (day to day office management, syllabi, lesson, assessment, and curriculum support, workshops and training)
・Coordination of students (teaching, placement and promotion, writing portfolio, advising)
・Coordination with Director (program evaluation, student feedback surveys)
・Coordination of events (start of semester placement tests, student orientation, instructor kickoff meeting, final advising)
・Coordination of full-time instructors (research projects, collaboration)
・Communication with administration (academic advising center, student services)

Qualifications & Experience
・Fluent in English and based in Japan
・Doctorate in English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics or a related area is required
・Experience teaching university-level ESL courses is required
・Experience teaching university-level courses at an American university, especially academic writing, is preferred
・Knowledge of the U.S. educational system is preferred
・Detail-oriented
・Team player with effective communication skills
